Joanne Jackson
about the artist
Joanne Jackson has been blessing people with her art for over 30 years. She has made paintings and sculptures for many people, including celebrities Oprah Winfrey and Aretha Franklin. She received a Spirit of Detroit Award in May of 1996 for her dedication to improving the quality of life in Detroit.
She has been on display at a variety of exhibits including: City Hall of Jackson, Michigan; Ann Arbor Art Festival; David Whitney building and the Riverplace Apartments. She did a painting for Charles Fillmore’s granddaughter, Connie Fillmore, which is on display at Unity Village in Missouri. She was also praised for her donation of a mural for her friends at Jackson Friendly Home in Jackson, Michigan. In 2008, she was a featured artist in the development of the Cody/Rouge Community Mural project titled “Victory Village”.
Joanne is a versatile artist and she loves what she does. She was quoted by the Jackson Citizen Patriot saying, “All my paintings come from inside me.”
