about the artist

Grace Li Wang is an artist renowned for her ability to capture the radiance of nature in exuberant expressionist works. She wants her art to energize and enrich the spirit in each of us. Her vibrant colors and graphic forms infuse a sense of radiant vitality in an imaginative and captivating world.

Grace recalls vividly the truly blissful feeling while doing paintings, including the “Here Comes the Sun”, as “It was an absolutely wonderful feeling of deep peace and contentment.” The actualization of these memorable strong feelings is also a reflection of her passionate spirit and wonderment of the world. Grace’s love affair with color and form along with her mature emotional range of perception, and confidence bring forth the exquisite and dramatic exuberance in her paintings.

She was born in Taipei, Taiwan, Republic of China, in 1953. Grace arrived in the United States in 1964, and graduated from the School of Design at the North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Environmental Design Degree in 1974. She participates in numerous international, national, and regional design conferences as seminar panelist and jurist. After many years of working in the Art and Design Director capacity for major corporations, Grace became the gallery director for The Grace Li Wang Art Gallery in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Art with a Touch of Grace — her work has been widely exhibited and collected, regionally and internationally. Grace has exhibited over 100 solo or featured artist exhibits in shows, galleries and museums in US, Asia and Europe.

She is the recipient of numerous international art and design awards, including the Designers Choice Awards from the International Design Publications, the Distinguished Art and Design Graphics Awards from the International Society for Technical Communications, among dozens of other art and design awards.

In 2011, Grace was the designated Signature Artist for the Lazy Daze Arts Festival in Cary, NC. That festival was profiled by the Sunshine Artist magazine as the highest ranking one-day arts festival in the US. During the same year, she was also the Signature Artist for the StepN2theArtZ Festival in Roxboro, NC. She continues with other arts endeavors, including art licensing work and art gallery shows.

”I want to create vibrant imageries that become the active force in expressing Colors and Forms in Nature, with emotional qualities that are strong and radiate energy and exuberance.”

artist statement

I think of Nature as a force in the universe. When I paint, I want to express the synergy of Nature by focusing on images that I feel represent vision, hope, unity and a sense of the ethereal timelessness.

My paintings feature bold compositions and dramatic vibrant colors to energize and enrich the viewers. May the joy, hope and warmth of Nature’s radiance touch and uplift your spirit.

Nature: Radiant Impressions of the Soul

I think of Nature
as natural scenery,
a force in the universe
as well as the inherent character of a person.

In creating art,
I examined the connection between Nature and Soul
because I feel they both seem to know me
and hence form my identity.

When I attempt to express myself through art,
I experience a deeper level of joy,
as though the impressions of my soul are reflected in my art.

My purpose here is to convey my impressions of Nature
through form and intense colors in Nature that move me.

Strong colors are my visual language
allowing me to express intense emotions about Nature
that connect with the spiritual force of the soul.

The soul immersed in the splendors of colors of Nature
feeds me peace and bliss.

If the soul of humankind is the same,
then I hope we all can find ourselves
in the same profound state of joy and enlightenment.
